As a technical summary of the problem, the water particles in contact with the outer layer of the vessel’s Gel Coat, try to cross this barrier and manage to reach the first layers of the glass fiber of the hull, starting a chemical process called hydrolysis, where the water begins to break down the molecular chain of the resin.

In this process there is the formation of residues which, subject to osmotic pressure, produce bubbles on the outer face of the hull.
